Education Ministry dismisses claims of schools covering up bullying cases

Oct 19, 2017

The Education Ministry has dismissed suggestions that schools are covering up bullying cases.

Deputy Education Minister II Datuk Chong Sin Woon says in this age of smartphones and social media, it's near impossible for schools to hide such cases.

He adds that even if there is no action by the school, there are other avenues to publicise such cases, including via PTAs, and police liaison officers.

Datuk Chong adds that school bullies should not be expelled, and should be given another chance, as they can still be rehabilitated
