Owner of discarded chlorine drums in Melaka identified

Sep 29, 2017

Melaka police have identified the owner of several discarded drums containing chlorine, which polluted a neighbourhood, forcing over 250 locals to evacuate.

Police managed to identify the owner based on the serial numbers etched on the drums.

They say the chemical was used by a company involved in the water industry.

Some 50 people had to be treated in hospital, after they were exposed to a chlorine gas leak in Kampung Tambak Paya yesterday.
