HR Ministry considers new laws for HIV and Aids workers

Oct 13, 2017

The Human Resource Ministry is considering drafting new laws, to prevent those with HIV and Aids from being stigmatised and discriminated against at the workplace.

It says there are such laws at the moment, but only on a voluntary-adoption basis.

The Ministry made clear that there is no risk of HIV-positive workers transmitting the virus to their colleagues, unlike with other diseases which are airborne.

It will however, conduct a holistic review of existing acts and laws, before presenting the matter to the Attorney General's chambers for further action.
