Penang denies catching vaccinated dogs for rabies

Aug 11, 2017

The Penang City Council has denied that it catches dogs that have been neutered, or vaccinated for rabies.

This, after the NGO Save our Strays urged Penangites to call them, rather than the council about stray dogs.

It claims the council's enforcement officers catch the animals in an inhumane way.

Complaints regarding street dogs have been on the rise following the rabies outbreak.

However, the council says if it is forced to catch a dog following a complaint, it will not put it to sleep, but make arrangements with an NGO to house the animal.
