Beach-goers in Tanjung Aru urged to be careful

Aug 02, 2017

Beach-goers in Tanjung Aru in Sabah are being urged to be careful when they enter the water.

This, following reports of a jellyfish infestation along the west coast of Sabah, which saw five kids stung while swimming over the weekend.

The State Fisheries Department told The Star, beachgoers should listen to the advice of the Civil Defense Department at the beach, especially since the sting of this particular variety of jellyfish can be venomous.

It adds that its difficult to determine the jellyfish season, due to the unpredictability of weather conditions.
