Tolls to stay for now, but alternatives being studied

The government has reiterated that it will not abolish tolls anytime soon, due to the country's financial situation.

However, Works Minister Baru Bian told the Dewan Rakyat that several alternatives are being studied, such as decreasing toll fee, setting a flat rate, or giving discounts during off-peak periods, to help ease the burden on highway users.

The Prime Minister recently said it isn't financially feasible to implement toll-free highways, despite Pakatan Harapan pledging to abolish tolls in its election manifesto.
