SST-affected items to be released soon

The complete list of items and businesses affected by SST will be ready in the next two days.

However, the Customs Department says there won't be much changes, with the list of 6,400 exempted items to stay pretty much the same. 

Meanwhile, Finance Minister, Lim Guan Eng has urged the previous Barisan Nasional government to admit the GST caused a financial burden on Malaysians.

Guan Eng also earlier said the government will be lenient on traders who've yet to register for the SST, as long as they have a good reason.

RoS gives Rafizi Ramli green light to contest in PKR polls

The Registrar of Societies has given Rafizi Ramli an exemption to contest in PKR's party polls. 

However, it clarified it's up to PKR to decide whether Rafizi can contest. 

The party's rules bar people with convictions from contesting, and Rafizi has two previous convictions.

Jomo thinks there's no use for CEP right now

Council of Eminent Persons member, Professor Jomo Kwame Sundaram believes there's no place for the CEP right now.

He was responding to the Prime Minister's statement yesterday that he still needs the CEP to help him weed out corrupt elements left in the government by the previous administration. 

However, Jomo supported Tun M's comments about not making CEP reports public, as the contents are very sensitive and can be abused.

Sabah may be in for a long hot and dry spell

Sabah may face a critical water shortage towards the end of the year, as the hot weather and little rainfall is causing water levels in dams and treatment plants to drop. 

The Met Department has warned the dry weather in Sabah will continue until December. 

The state government has warned residents to be ready for a drought, but water supply is already being sent to affected areas to mitigate the issue.
