Jul 24, 2018

MOH: Health screenings to be carried out at childcare centres and schools

Strict screenings will be carried out at kindergartens, daycare centres and primary schools to check the spread of hand, foot and mouth disease.

Only those who don't show any symptoms will be allowed inside the premises.

The Health Ministry adds, more efforts would be made to boost hygiene level both inside and outside such premises.

This includes disinfecting classes at the end of the school session.

Some 35,000 HFMD cases have been reported since the start of the year.

Could Barisan head the Public Accounts Committee?

An Opposition MP could be chosen to head Parliament's Public Accounts Committee.

The Dewan Rakyat Speaker's office will hold a meeting with the govt minister in charge of Parliamentary affairs, and an announcement will be made accordingly.

Deputy Speaker, Nga Kor Ming adds, it's up to the opposition leader, to accept the offer or not.

This is part of the Pakatan Harapan government's pledge to strengthen Parliament, to provide effective checks and balances against the executive branch.

Wan Azizah will stay second-in-command, after stepping down from PKR presidency

Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail says she will remain Deputy Prime Minister, once she steps down as President of PKR.
