Smoking Ban Grace Period
You will have six months to get used to the smoking ban at restaurants and eateries, which comes into force on January 1st.

The Health Ministry says during this period, enforcement officers will go to the ground to educate smokers, and issue verbal warnings to those caught smoking at these establishments.
However, it warns that stubborn smokers who still light up after the six-month grace period, will be fined immediately.
Better Police Presense At Tourist Hotspots
KL police are thinking about setting up police beats in tourist areas, to serve and protect visitors coming to the city.
They are now in talks with the relevant stakeholders, to detemine the best locations and times for their men to go on patrol.

So far, they've already identified eight locations - including Jalan Bukit Bintang, KLCC and Dataran Merdeka.
Improve Pedestrian Bridges!
Poor maintenance has been identified as one of the reasons why few people use pedestrian bridges in KL.
National Road Safety Council member Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye told the NST, DBKL needs to conduct regular safety and cleanliness audits of these bridges, to encourage more people to use them.

The Lion Air plane that crashed in Indonesia last week, had experienced problems with the air-speed indicator.
According to analysis of the flight data recorder, the problem cropped up on the plane's final four flights, leading to questions about why the aircraft was allowed to fly before the problem was resolved.
