Tun M promises strict action against Sri Maha Mariamman offenders

Nov 27, 2018

The Prime Minister has warned that stern action will be taken against those involved in the unrest at the Hindu temple in Subang Jaya.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad also assured that those behind the violence will face the full brunt of the law.

He also says it's clear that the incidents were criminal and not racial in nature.

Meanwhile, the IGP has urged anyone with information on the people behind the temple attack to come forward.

Tan Sri Fuzi Harun adds, police will not tolerate any more unlawful acts in areas around the temple, and will come down hard on any attempts to create trouble.

Federal Reserve Unit and General Operations Force personnel have already been deployed to the area.

Also, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department has refuted claims on social media that a fireman, who was allegedly attacked by protestors, has died.

It says the 24-year-old is in stable condition in hospital.

Increase bus fares to avoid bus accidents?

The government is considering an increase in express bus fares, which have remained unchanged since 2009.

The Transport Ministry says by raising fares, it hopes this will lead to better bus drivers and improved working conditions.

It pointed out that among the reasons for express bus accidents is low pay.

This forces drivers to work more than eight hours a day to claim overtime.
