Catch Najib and Arul this Wednesday! (in court)

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was released on bail, shortly after the MACC arrested him over the alleged tampering of the 1MDB final audit report this morning.

The former Prime Minister is expected to be charged at the KL Sessions Court on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, reports say former 1MDB Chief, Arul Kanda Kandasamy will also face charges on Wednesday, for abetting Najib.

Sivarraajh allowed in Parliament for now

The Dewan Rakyat Speaker says MIC vice-president Datuk C. Sivarraajh will be allowed to attend Parliament proceedings for now.

The Election Court recently ruled that Sivaraajh's victory in GE14 was invalid due to bribery.

However, Speaker Datuk Mohd Ariff Md Yusof says the Election Commission will only declare the seat vacant or not, pending a legal appeal.

Cost of Living Aid to be handed out after CNY

Next year's Cost of Living Aid for the low-income group will be paid out after Chinese New Year.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng says the government is currently in the midst of collecting data on eligible recipients.

During the tabling of Budget 2019, Guan Eng said households earning RM2,000 and below will receive cash assistance of RM1,000.

Families in the B40 Group will also receive additional aid of RM120 for each child aged 18 and below, limited to four children.

Independent auditor to help government study toll collections

The Works Ministry will appoint an independent auditor early next month, to help the government study toll collections. 

It says, the auditor will make several recommendations, including toll rates reduction in the short, medium and long-term.

The findings are expected to be handed to the Cabinet in May next year.

Gangster and LGBT films allowed, if there's a lesson

The Home Ministry says the Censorship Board can approve films with LGBT elements or gangsterism for viewing, if they carry important cautionary lessons.

It says this is in line with current censorship guidelines.
