If and only If !

Dec 12, 2018

The MACC says it will only step in to probe the ongoing Tabung Haji case, IF there is basis for it to do so.

The Commission clarified that if any of the alleged offences fall outside of its jurisdiction, then it will refer the matter to other authorities to investigate.

It follows recent revelations that Tabung Haji had been illegally paying out dividends, despite having more debts than assets.
---

Separately, the MACC is now gathering evidence on Cameron Highlands MP Datuk C. Sivarraajh, who's been accused of corrupt practices.

It comes after the Election Court's recent decision to nulify his victory in GE14, for offering money in exchange for votes.

Sivarraajh has denied the accusations.

Meanwhile, the MIC has confirmed that it will not be appealing the court's decision to nulify the result, paving the way for a by-election for the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat.

Another victim has died of rabies in Sarawak, taking the total number of fatalities in the state to 15 since the disease was detected there last June.

Officials say the latest confirmed victim was a 64-year-old man from Kuching.

And, United Nations figures show that more than half the world's population are now connected to the internet.

Developing countries have seen the strongest growth, with Africa seeing a tenfold increase in internet users over the past 13 years.
