Google has revealed what Malaysians have been searching for this year, with the publication of its annual Year in Search results.

The person who was most searched for this year was Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Among searches for what was trending in music were Pinkfong's "Baby Shark" and "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran.

Meanwhile, GE14, Budget 2019 and even the 11.11 sale were the most searched for news topics this year.

Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 were the most searched movies this year.

Several Sabah UMNO reps jump ship

More than a dozen Sabah UMNO MPs and state assemblymen have quit the party, citing loss of confidence.

They include Beluran MP Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.

The state elected reps also pledged their full support for Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

However, Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin, and Sungai Sibuga assemblyman Tan Sri Musa Aman have not announced whether they will stay or leave the party.

Sivarraajh backs down

Datuk C. Sivarraajh has decided not to appeal against the Election Court's decision to nullify his victory in the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat, thus paving the way for a by-election.

This comes two weeks after the court found that corrupt practices led to Barisan Nasional's victory in the constituency during GE14.

However, Sivaraajh says his decision doesn't indicate that he agrees with the court's judgement.

The MIC vice-president adds that he will leave it to his party leaders to decide on the by-election candidate.

No plans for under-18 curfew

The government has no intention to impose any curfew, to keep children under the age of 18 home at night.

The Women, Family and Community Development Minister says a number of activities, including tuition classes, benefiting these children are still held at night.

However, the Ministry adds that it is the responsibility of parents and local leaders to ensure that these kids are not involved in any unhealthy activities.

Temple riot charging begins

13 suspects arrested over the violence at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya, have been charged in court.

The Selangor police chief says the deputy Public Prosecutor has also decided to prosecute eight others in stages.

Majority of them were charged for rioting and causing grievous harm.

The state police chief adds that those charged are from the total of 106 suspects arrested as of today.
