Firefighter Muhammad Adib Kassim was laid to rest at his hometown in Kuala Kedah this afternoon.
The 24-year-old passed away last night, succumbing to the serious injuries he sustained in the violence at the Seafield temple in Subang Jaya three weeks ago.
Meanwhile, the Kedah state government will decide on the type of assistance that will be chanelled to Adib's family.
It says for now, they will help pay for Adib's funeral expenses.
The Fire and Rescue Department says flags at its stations will be flown at half-mast for the next three days, as a mark of respect.
It adds it has given Adib an immediate posthumous promotion, so that his family can receive a bigger pension.
This, as the Chairman of the Save Seafield Mariamman Temple task force extended the group's condolences to Adib's family.
He also urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, and nab everyone involved in his death.
Police have already reclassified the case as murder.
