Hail, Al-Sultan!

The Sultan of Pahang has taken his oath to become the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Al-Sultan Abdullah has also signed the instrument of the declaration of the holding of office, read by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. 

Al-Sultan Abdullah is also the eighth Agong to work with 94-year-old Tun M. 

Sultan Abdullah succeeds Sultan Muhammad V, the Sultan of Kelantan, who stepped down after a two-year reign.

The Sultan of Perak was also sworn in as the Deputy Agong at the ceremony at Istana Negara, which was attended by seven of the nine Malay Rulers.

Isa Samad denied of passport

The KL Sessions Court has denied an application by Tan Sri Isa Samad, for the temporary release of his passport.

The former FELDA Chairman applied to get his passport back, in order to to perform the umrah. 

The court ruled that while Isa was not a flight risk, there was no urgency for him to perform the umrah.

Isa is currently on trial, on ten counts of criminal breach of trust and graft, involving more than RM3 mil.

National aquatics coach freed from rape charge

The KL Sessions Court has acquitted a national aquatics coach, on a charge of raping a diving athlete two years ago.

This, after the judge ruled that Huang Qiang, who's a Chinese national, had successully raised reasonable doubt in the prosecution's case.

Google does nasi lemak Doodle

Google has paid tribute to nasi lemak, by featuring the favourite Malaysian dish in a Google Doodle. 

The 40-second animated clip, called "Celebrating Nasi Lemak", shows how to cook and serve the dish. 

This isn't the first time a Google Doodle has celebrated Malaysia.

Previous Doodles commemorated Merdeka, as well as Tan Sri P. Ramlee, Yasmin Ahmad, football icon Datuk Mokhtar Dahari and GE14.
