The govt has formed an Economic Action Council!

The govt has formed an Economic Action Council which will be headed by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The main aim of the council is to scrutinise and act on the country's economic and financial issues and the people's welfare.

It will also look into issues related to cost of living, employment and homeownership.

Former Minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz and former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz  are among 16 members of the council.

There is a need to emphasise on the importance of the National Urgent Response alert system, Nur Alert!

The Women's Aid Organization says the concept of a safe community needs to be established to address crimes, especially those involving children.

The NGO was commenting on the recent brutal murder of an 11-year-old girl in Pekan, Pahang.

Pahang police say revenge is believe to have been the motive for the murder.

The inquest into the death of fireman Muhd Adib continues today at the site of the recent Seafield temple violence

The court says this is to get a better idea of the events that unfolded on the night the fireman died.

Adib passed away in December last year, after he was severely injured during the Seafield temple violence.

And, at least 99 people have died and scores have been hospitalised in northern India after drinking toxic alcohol.

This has prompted the authorities to arrest more than 3,000 suspects.
