2 years on, Pastor Koh family still in the dark over his disappearance

Feb 13, 2019

A civil society group has submitted a memorandum to the PM's office, over the unsolved disappearances of several activists.

The group, called Caged, says the missing persons include Pastor Raymond Koh, Amri Che Mat and Joshua & Ruth Hilmy

Caged spokesperson Rama Ramanathan says they are requesting a completely new and independent police investigation for the case.

The memorandum was handed to the secretary of the PM's Office at around 11.30am this morning.

They agreed to deliver it personally to the PM in hopes that the PM will meet the families of Pastor Raymond Koh and Amri Che Mat, together with key advisors to hear their side of the story.

Meanwhile, Pastor Koh's wife, Susanna Liew hopes that a new investigation can give her family some sense of closure.

"We have tried many avenues and platforms to find justice and to uncover the truth, but we have just come to a dead end. We feel that we need to take this course, therefore we've come to appeal to the prime minister, and ask for a private meeting to hear our grievances."

- Susanna Liew

It was 2 years ago today that Pastor Koh was kidnapping by a group of masked men, in broad daylight in Petaling Jaya.

Meanwhile, Amri, the co-founder of the NGO Perlis Hope, disappeared in Kangar on November 24th, 2016.

This was also around the same time that Joshua Hilmy and his wife Ruth went missing.

Suhakam's inquiry into Pastor Koh's case ended in December, and its findings will be presented to Parliament some time this year.
