Govt eyes new anti-stalking law

Feb 19, 2019

A new law targeting stalkers and peeping toms is expected to be tabled in Parliament this year.

The PM's Dept says the new bill will address weaknesses in existing laws, which are not enough to handle such cases effectively.

Minister Datuk Liew Vui Keong says currently, police have to investigate stalking and voyeurism cases under criminal intimidation or assault.

This means authorties must prove that the offender had touched or intimidated the victim.

Meanwhile the victim must have evidence including video recordings.
