Nazri Aziz being probed for alleged sedition

Feb 26, 2019

The IGP has confirmed that police are investigating Barisan Nasional Sec-Gen Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz for alleged sedition.

He was questioned by police yesterday, over several provocative comments that he made while campaigning for the Semenyih by-election last week.

Among others, he questioned the appointment of non-Muslims as the Attorney-General, Chief Justice and Finance Minister.

On another issue, the IGP says police have submitted the second autopsy report on the former Cradle Fund CEO to the prosecutor's office for further action.

Tan Sri Fuzi Harun refused to disclose the autopsy results, as they're waiting for further instructions from the DPP.

45-year-old Nazrin Hassan died in a fire at his home last June, and police reclassified the case from sudden death to murder following a Bomba investigation.

His remains were exhumed in October for a second post-mortem.

Parents who never vaccinated their kids can be charged

There are existing laws in place to penalise parents who refuse to vaccinate their kids.

Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Hannah Yeoh says the Child Act has provisions to charge anti-vaxx parents in court for negligence, if it leads to the child's death.

This, after an unvaccinated 2-year-old boy died of diphtheria recently.

PPJK supports govt's highways takeover proposal

A group representing Malaysian road users has backed the government's proposed takeover of four highways in the Klang Valley.

The National Road Users Association says it understands completely, that abolishing tolls cannot happen overnight.

However, it pointed out that Pakatan Harapan should work hard to gradually abolish tolls, as per its election manifesto.

The government recently said it's in talks to take over the LDP, Sprint, Kesas and Smart Tunnel Highways, and replace their tolls with a variable-rate congestion charge.

Meanwhile, the Finance Minister says the government has enough funding for the takeover.

According to Lim Guan Eng, the money earned from the congestion charge will be enough to repay the loan to take over the highways.

It's also enough to cover the highways' operational and maintenance costs, without needing any additional funding from the Ministry.
