Pregnancy discrimination is still very real in the workplace.

A survey conducted by the Women's Aid Organisation found that about 40 percent of pregnant women face some form of discrimination at work...

Advocacy and Communications Officer Tan Heang Lee says "once women became pregnant, they were made redundant, they were denied promotion, placed on prolonged probation, some were demoted and also some were terminated and even before women entered workplace you see discrimination at the point of hiring."

She adds for example, some female job applicants are asked by interviewers if they were pregnant or had plans to become pregnant.

She spoke to us in conjunction with International Women's Day today.

Govt-mandated vaccinations are happening

The government is pushing ahead with mandatory vaccinations, with enforcement to start this year.

The Health Ministry is still working out the details, but says it has received overwhelming public support.

It hopes parents will be committed to the new rule once it's rolled out.

This comes after a 2-year-old unimmunised boy in Johor died from vaccine-preventable diphtheria last month, and also infected several kids around him.

In response to trolls bashing the nation's first flying car, the Entreprenuer Development Minister says he has no hard feelings.

He says his ministry will step up efforts to educate the society about innovation, but hopes M'sians can have a better attitude and an open mind towards new discoveries.
