Gov't to stop racial discrimination in job applications

The government will come up with an action plan to tackle racial discrimination in the recruitment process. 

The de-facto Unity Minister was commenting on a recent study that alleged Malays and Indians are more likely to experience discrimination, when applying for jobs in the private sector. 

P. Waythamoorthy said all Malaysians should be given equal employment opportunities.

Pakatan Rantau candidate will be announced tomorrow

We'll find out who Pakatan Harapan is fielding in the Rantau by-election latest by tomorrow. 

PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the party's leadership council had proposed six names to be considered. 

Anwar, however, said there's a possibility Rembau PKR Deputy Chief Dr S. Streram would be retained as the candidate. 

He was supposed to run in GE14, but was barred from submitting his nomination papers because he did not have a pass issued by the Election Commission.

Federal Territories to charge for plastic bags

You'll have to pay for plastic bags in the Federal Territories from this Friday. 

Each biodegradable bag will cost RM0.20 in KL, Putrajaya and Labuan under a pollution charge. 

The Federal Territories Ministry hopes this will encourage consumers to bring their own shopping bags and use their own food containers.
