Gobind says news portals responsible for offensive comments

News portals are on the government's radar as it aims to quash social media trolls. 

Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo said news portals should not allow insensitive comments on their platforms.

"They allow people to come on to their portal to comment and things like that. I think they need to observe the kind of comments that are posted on their portals."

Gobind also urged netizens to be responsible when posting comments on social media.

IMU investigates student who made sexist remarks online

Think before you post on social media. 

A medical student who made inappropriate comments on Facebook over the death of a local actress in now in trouble with his university. 

Following outrage from netizens and even a petition, IMU says it will launch an internal investigation against the student, leading to a hearing. 

The man has since apologised, but that angered netizens even more as he was slammed for being insincere.

Pasir Gudang toxic fumes affects 207

More people have landed in the ICU because of a chemical waste dump in Sungai Kim Kim in Johor. 

The number of people affected by toxic fumes from the dump rose to 207 yesterday, all from two schools in the area. 

Three men have been arrested, including the owners of a chemical processing factory and a waste processing factory.
