Did you update your personal info on LHDN's website?

Mar 19, 2019

If you did not get your income tax refund last year, it could be because you failed to update your personal data and bank account details.

LHDN said that's why close to half a billion ringgit in tax refunds were not paid last year.

The biggest issue is a change in taxpayer's address, resulting in undelivered cheques.

Since the tax season is ongoing, Malaysians have been reminded to update their information on LHDN's website, to ensure they get their refunds.

The Pasir Gudang crisis may not be over

Just two days after Sungai Kim Kim was cleaned up, another two chemical waste dump sites have been found in the area.

The sites at Sungai Sembilan and Sungai Masai have been cordoned off while several blue barrels of suspected chemical waste have been removed.

Nine people have been arrrested over the Sungai Kim Kim pollution, while police are still investigating the latest two cases.

Over in Klang, a man has been arrested for dumping industrial waste into a flood retention pond there last week.

There's still open burning, despite the heat

The weather is blistering hot.

There's haze, the air is unhealthy, and people are still practicing open burning.

Bomba recorded 6,500 fires nationwide in just the first two months of this year, most of them manmade.

That includes throwing cigarettes everywhere and people deliberately starting a fire.

Authorities nationwide have also been trying to put out several blazes in recent weeks, including one at the solid waste landfill in Bandar Tenggara, Johor.

So far, Kuantan in Pahang is in the bad books for having the most number of open burning cases this year.

As of 7:00am, Balok Baru Kuantan and Rompin in Pahang have unhealthy air quality, and so does Bukit Rambai and Alor Gajah in Melaka.

The heatwave is also getting worse, although it's expected to end today.

Yesterday, 23 areas in the Peninsular had temperatures of between 35 and 37 degrees celcius.

That includes Klang, Kuala Selangor, Sepang and Petaling.
