Malaysia out to retrieve stolen 1MDB funds

May 04, 2019

Malaysia aims to retrieve RM29 bil in misappropriated funds from 1MDB from various countries.

The Prime Minister says he's sure foreign powers know it's our money and will give it back.

This follows a report that Tun M had reached out to countries from Switzerland to Singapore, for help in tracking and recouping billions of ringgit, believed to have been siphoned from 1MDB.

Food Bank programme to include Ramadan bazaars

The National Food Bank programme will be extended to Ramadan bazaars.

The government says the bazaars will be used as collection points, with the food gathered to be channelled to campuses, suraus and mosques.

The project - in part meant to address the issue of massive food waste during the fasting month - will be first carried out at Ramadan Bazaars in the Klang Valley next week.

Hotels and clubhouses are also being targeted as collection and distribution centres.

'405' rally cleared to go on

The controversial '405' rally will be allowed to proceed today, as it has fully complied with all requirements under the Peaceful Assembly Act.

The rally from Masjid Jamek to Sogo in KL, is supposedly being held to defend the sovereignty of Islam, but organisers have been slammed for trying to stir up trouble.

The Home Minister is one of those who've slammed the rally as an attempt by opportunists to gain political interests by fueling racial and religious tensions.
