Report hawkers who don't use gloves

May 15, 2019

Act against unhygenic hawkers

You have the right to remind hawkers to use gloves if you see them handling food bare-handed.

The Perak exco member for health says consumers have a right to clean food, adding it is mandatory for hawkers to wear gloves while handling food anyway.

A recent inspection in Perak found many bazaar operators working with food without wearing gloves.

Doctors who promote alternatives to the Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccine will face stern action.

Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye says as much as he respects differing opinions, alternative treatments could harm patients.

Health authorities are especially intolerant of bad advice about the MMR vaccine, as the percentage of vaccinated Malaysians is not enough for herd immunity.

In 2018, MMR coverage was only at 90% - coverage of 95% is required for herd immunity.

Police are on high alert after two private universities in the Klang Valley received terror threats.

The threats on Facebook have been circulating since Friday and the two universities have since lodged police reports.

While some believe it's a prank, Subang Jaya police are not taking any chances and have increased patrols.
