Kedah police have promised a transparent investigation into a traffic cop who allegedly shot and injured a pillion rider.

The victim was on his friend's motorcycle when the rider was caught beating a traffic light and refused police orders to pull over.

The rider then began driving erratically and tried to knock the cop off his bike, prompting the officer to shoot at the motorcycle's rear tyre.

The Kedah police chief said the cop only realised the pillion rider had been injured later on.

The PM has reiterated the government will consider selling the national airline if there's a good offer.

However, Tun M said the new owner must be able to manage Malaysia Airlines well, as several leadership changes have not helped the company.

Separately, Malaysia Airlines is re-routing flights to avoid Iran-controlled airspace over the Persian Gulf, following in the footsteps of SIA, Qantas and more.

This comes after the US aviation regulator barred its carriers from the area after Iran took down a high-altitude US drone with a missile, sparking concerns about the safety threat to commercial airlines.

And at last 30 people, including children, have been killed in a fire at a private home, operating as a matchstick factory fire in Indonesia.

Police suspect a gas canister explosion may have sparked the blaze.
