Tun M proposes e-commerce tax

The Prime Minister has suggested that ASEAN member nations impose special taxes on online businesses.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says this is to allow countries to increase their respective revenues, amid the massive growth of e-commerce.
He explained that currently, only the country where the online business originates from gains thru taxes...while the country where the business operates in misses out on tax gains.
No mercy for smokers
The government will not be going easy on smokers who light up at public eateries, once the enforment of the smoking ban comes into force on January 1st next year.

Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye says smokers should use the period until then to get used to the ruling.
He also lamented that since the government announced a further six-month grace period before the smoking ban is fully enforced, its been noticed that some smokers have started lighting up again at public eateries.
Schools shut in Pasir Gudang

Three schools and two kindergartens in Pasir Gudang, Johor have been ordered to close for two days starting today, following possible cases of air pollution.
State health officials say they are also monitoring air quality in the affected area, and checking on factories to determine the cause of the pollution, which left several students suffering from breathing difficulties last week.
Superyacht available for 5.5mil a week
A UK paper reports that the 1MDB-linked superyacht Equinimity...which has been remaned the Tranquility...has been put up for rent in the Mediterenean Sea for around 5.5 million ringgit per week.
