A special motion to compel all lawmakers to declare their assets has been tabled.

Under the proposal, those who fail to declare their assets will be hauled to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Rights and Privileges.

Minister in the PM's Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong adds MPs can be jailed for making false declarations.

If the motion is accepted, it will apply to all MPs, their spouses, their children below the age of 21 and related trust holders.

The bill is aimed at overcoming corruption among the country's leaders.

Street demonstrations and protest marches will no longer be a crime if amendments to the Peaceful Assembly Act are passed.

The government is also proposing to shorten the notice period for protest organisers to inform authorities, from 10 days to 7.

Syed Saddiq, the youngest member of cabinet, has moved to redefine 'youth' as those under the age of 30 through an amendment to the Youth Societies and Youth Development Act.
