Jul 04, 2019
The Opposition will reject a motion by the government to amend the Federal Constitution lowering the voting age from 21 to 18, unless it includes an amendment for automatic registration.
Opposition leader Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says this will make life easier for voters, especially those who live in rural areas.
They also want the minimum age to contest in General Elections to be lowered to 18.
The motion to amend the constitution, the second time under the Pakatan Harapan government, is expected to be tabled for the first reading in Parliament today.
