KPDNHEP to further improve Food Bank Programme
Jul 31, 2019
The government is continously working to ensure the Food Bank Programme functions smoothly.
The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister says the Ministry plans to further empower the programme by conducting awareness seminars, purchasing new vehicles, and also identifying methods to make surplus food last longer.
"It is using the retort technology, and doing pilot projects, which helps food collected from hotel kitchens like chicken sambal, roasted chicken, and ayam percik, to be stored in a special packaging, so that the food in the packet could be long lasting."
Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail adds that the longer shelf-life will allow them to always be prepared, when they need to distribute food to the needy.
