Authorities narrow down search area for missing Singaporean

Aug 17, 2019

Terengganu marine police have narrowed the search area for missing Singaporean kayaker Tan Eng Soon.

According to a local fishermen's WhatsApp group, a body with a life jacket strapped on it was spotted about 74km from the search area.

Tan went missing along with a fellow Singaporean last Thursday, when they were separated from their group while kayaking near the Endau Islands.

However, the other body was found on Wednesday in the waters off Kuala Kemaman.

Zakir Naik's PR status to be reviewed after police probe

The government will wait for the outcome of police investigations into controversial preacher Dr Zakir Naik, before deciding on his PR status.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says Zakir's PR status could be revoked, if he's found jeopardising the well-being of the nation.

The PM adds that action will be taken to prevent Zakir from making provocative speeches.

This, as Perlis police have barred Zakir from speaking at a programme there this weekend.

Zakir is being investigated under the Penal Code with intent to disturb peace, after Bukit Aman received over 100 complaints over his latest alleged racist remarks.

The family of Irish teen Nora Anne are hoping for more answers on her disappearance.

The Quoirins say although the initial post-mortem results had given some insight on Nora's cause of death, they're still trying to understand what truly happened to her.

The family has conveyed this message to the DPM, and have also thanked Malaysian authorities for their ongoing support and cooperation with international governments.

Meanwhile, Nora's family has claimed her body from the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban.
