Don't try to be thrifty with renewing your road tax!

Malaysians are underpaying their road tax, causing the government to lose over RM50 mil in revenue, in just the first eight months of this year. 

JPJ has set up a task force to look into this, after it found some crafty drivers were travelling to Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan and Langkawi to renew their road tax, and abuse the lower fees in those areas. 

This prompted it to suspend the road tax renewals of select cars at the post offices of the four locations.

MOT clarifies on motorcycle ride-hailing market in Malaysia

The Transport Minister has reiterated that if the Cabinet approves motorcycle ride-hailing, the market will be open to all and a monopoly will not be allowed. 

He was responding to questions why the government would consider approving foreign company Go-Jek, and sideline the homegrown Dego Ride.

Syed Saddiq to discuss female athletes' attire issue in Terengganu

Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq will meet with Terengganu authorities to discuss a proposed change in the attire of female athletes in the state. 

The state exco in charge of sports reportedly said rhythmic gymnastics and women's gymnastics exposed athletes' bodies, and the movements are indecent for spectators. 

The PAS-led Terengganu state government is drafting guidelines on syariah-compliant attire and conduct for athletes, with feedback from stakeholders.
