Msian writer quits Crazy Rich Asians sequel
Sep 05, 2019
Adele Lim, the Msian-born co-writer of Crazy Rich Asians has dropped out of the planned sequel, after she found out that she was being paid 10 times less than her writing partner.
According to reports, the studio said it was due to her relative lack of experience in writing movies.
However, it reignited the debate about how Hollywood treats women and people of color.
Lim is currently working on the animated film Raya and the Last Dragon, for Disney.

The Youth and Sports Minister has again voiced his opposition to calls to raise the mandatory retirement age.
MTUC recently said that this would help Msians save up for old age, but Syed Saddiq argues that it would hurt job opportunities and promotion prospects for younger workers.
He adds, a better way to improve retirement savings, is to address the issue of stagnant wages.
Meanwhile according to a poll on the AstroRadioNews Facebook page, 70 percent of respondents said the current retirement age should be maintained.
