More schools close due to haze

Sep 19, 2019

Over 2,000 schools nationwide are closed today because of the haze.

That means about 2 million students won't have to go to class and they won't have replacement days.

Schools in Selangor, Putrajaya, KL and Penang will be closed today and tomorrow.

While those in Kedah, Perak, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak will only be shut today.

The Education Ministry has also improved the rules for school closures.

The announcement has to be made the previous day by 6pm, and parents can choose to leave their children at school for the full session if the closure order comes after classes start.

The air quality in KL and Selangor are better compared to yesterday, most of the very unhealthy areas are in Sarawak.

However, after a few days of bad haze in the Peninsular, the MET Department says it's planning to conduct cloudseeding today.

The government conducted successful cloud seeding in Selangor just a few days ago.
