No more streaming system in schools next year

The Education Ministry says the streamless schools approach will be implemented starting next year.

Students will be able to choose what subjects they want to study.

The Ministry says the current streaming system for Form 4 and Form 5 restricts the potential of schoolkids, and this has led to a lot of wasted talent.

Several words and phrases from the sci-fi franchise have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary.

This includes Jedi, the Force and Lightsabre.

In all,  650 new words made it into the dictionary.. 

This includes cryptocurrency, chillax, and Jafaican - which it describes as a non-Jamaican person who adopts aspects of Jamaican culture.

The Defence Minister says the Security Offences Special Measures Act, SOSMA should not be abolished.

He says it should instead be further improved to prevent abuse of the law.

This, after several leaders criticised the move to use Sosma to detain 12 individuals over their alleged links to the LTTE terrorist group.
