The Education Ministry is in the final stages of working out the mechanism, using Malaysia's free primary and secondary education as reference.
Separately, the Food Bank Siswa Programme is about to be expanded to private institutions of higher learning (IPTS).
The programme is available at 19 public universities right now, benefitting some 7,500 students from the B40 bracket.
From next year, however, it will be expanded to IPTS as well as polytechnics and teacher training institutes nationwide.
Banks asked to assist BSH recipients
The government will try to persuade local banks to open up zero-balance accounts for Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) recipients.
This is because about 45,000 BSH recipients do not have a bank account, which means they cannot receive the targeted fuel subsidy.
The subsidy will be handed out next April to all BSH recipients as well as eligible members of the M40 group.
Make sure your MP doesn't 'ponteng' parliament
You can write in to Parliament to see your MP's attendance record!
Deputy Speaker Datuk Rashid Hasnon said this following complaints about absent MP's especially during the Budget 2020 debate.
Last week's debate even had to be temporarily suspended because there were not enough MPs in the chamber.
