Most traders complying with Deepavali price scheme

Oct 25, 2019

A large majority of traders are complying with price control rules that have been put in place ahead of Deepavali.

The Domestic Trade and Consumerism Ministry says so far, it has inspected over 10,000 premises nationwide.

It only found 18 traders who failed to display the special pink price tags for controlled items, while another nine were penalised for not putting any price tags.

Speaking of which, the Works Ministry says over 20 highways nationwide will give toll discounts of between 10 and 30 percent in conjunction with Deepavali.

The discounts will be in effect on Sunday, October 27th, from 12:01AM until 11:59PM.

Over 60,000 e-hailing drivers have already obtained their PSV licences, after the requirement became compulsory.

The JPJ adds, many more are still in the process of getting the license.

In the Klang Valley alone, some 2,000 drivers sit for the exam each week.

At this rate, the JPJ expects all e-hailing drivers to get the license by year's end.
