Malaysians really came out for 11.11

It would seem a lot more Malaysians participated this year's 11.11 sales, as it took only about nine hours to exceed last year's online traffic numbers.

Malaysia's online shopping traffic during the first hour of yesterday's sales was also 300 percent more than last year!

Shopback Malaysia told SinChew 95 percent of shoppers used their phones, while Lazada was the favourite place to spend money, followed by Shopee and Taobao. 

Unsuprisingly, Lazada Malaysia recorded record sales, selling over a million items in the first hour. 

Lazada and Taobao both belong to Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, who made a record-breaking 38 billion dollars in sales yesterday.

Khalid: Govt offer for Kampung Baru is highest offered so far

A little over two weeks since the government announced its final and best offer for land in Kampung Baru, KL, only about 30% of property owners have responded. 

Most of them are willing to take up the offer of RM850 per square foot of land in cash, plus RM150 per square foot in shares.

While waiting for the remaining 70% of property owners to respond, Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad urged them to remember Kampung Baru's origins:

"They've forgotten the whole concept, why was Kampung Baru in the first place enacted? The reason is to ensure the Malays are not displaced out of the capital city. So you have an enclave that is protected, but being protected does not mean that it should not be developed. It should be developed as much as the rest of KL. And they should not look upon it as their own personal property because that was not the reason it was given to them."

The government is planning to redevelop the Malay Reserve Land by building affordable housing and a Malay heritage park among others.

You could see safety videos on buses from next year

The Transport Ministry wants safety videos to be aired on tour and express buses, so that passengers know what to do in an emergency. 

Anthony Loke also hopes the videos will encourage passengers to wear seat belts.
