MPs might soon be getting health checks?

Nov 12, 2019

The Health Ministry is considering conducting health checks for all lawmakers, following a series of health scares involving MPs.

This comes a day after the Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister collapsed 30 minutes into proceedings at the Dewan Rakyat.

It was the 2nd time an MP collapsed in Parliament in 2 months.

Last month, the Nibong Tebal MP also fell unconscious while delivering his Budget 2020 speech.

Meanwhile, a number of by-elections had to be called since GE-14, after their incumbents died due to health issues.

8 more arrested for poaching

Police and the Wildlife Department, Perhilitan have arrested 8 more men under a special operation to protect the country's treasured flora and fauna.

This means that 46 people have now been detained since Ops Khazanah was launched in September.

Authorities recovered scores of wildlife animal parts including tiger claws and deer hide.

The Election Commission has not received any complaints of federal ministers giving allocations during the Tanjung Piai by-election campaign period.

It says any complaints should be made directly to the police or the MACC.

The commission adds, 90 reports have have already been lodged with the anti-graft commission, on alleged offences during the campaign period

This includes allegations that prepaid SIM cards were given to people who attended a recent political talk.
