Tajuddin asked to apologise for "holy ash" comment

Dec 06, 2019

The de-facto Unity Minister has changed his stance on the ash-comment scandal, and called for the Pasir Salak MP to apologise:

"What was uttered by YB Pasir Salak was improper, it was insulting the Hindu community in the country, the burden is on him to publicly apologise to not only to YB Rayer, but also to the Hindu community in Malaysia."

P. Waytha Moorthy earlier asked Malaysians to let the incident go, saying the comment was probably made in excitement.

Law Minister warns MPs, declare assets or face action

Yesterday was the deadline for MPs to declare their assets and there are 62 who've yet to do so.

De-facto Law Minister Datuk Liew Vui Keong says among the 160 lawmakers who've abided by the Parliament motion are those in the ruling coalition:

"My record shows that all the Pakatan Harapan MPs have declared their assets. From BN, UMNO, two people, and one from MCA."

MPs who failed to declare their assets to the speaker yesterday and did not request for an extension will face action.

Flood situation improves

The flood situation nationwide has vastly improved, especially in Kelantan.

The number of flood evacuees in the state fell to about 7,500 from over 11,000 yesterday.

However, the state's police chief is still concerned about the low level of flood safety awareness among residents.

Datuk Hassanuddin Hassan said many parents are taking their children to flooded areas to play, but that's unsafe because there could be hidden currents.

Recently, a 4-year-old girl in Kelantan almost died after a leech entered her body while she was playing in flood waters.
