Philippines wins Best National Costume, not Malaysia

Miss Philippines is the rightful winner of the Best National Costume at this year's Miss Universe pageant and not Miss Malaysia.

It was initially reported that host Steve Harvey had made a mistake in announcing that Miss Philippines had won the award...

...But organizers later issued a correction via the Miss Universe official twitter account, saying Harvey was right all along. 

Health Ministry carrying out checks on locals, following polio case in Tuaran

The Health Ministry is carrying out checks on locals in the same neighbourhood as the baby infected with polio in Tuaran, Sabah

It has screened more than 600 people to contain the spread of the infection, and so far nobody has displayed polio symptoms. 

Malaysia was declared polio free in 2000, and the ministry is disappointed by the re-occurence of the infection as it's preventable by immunisation.

A by-election will be conducted in Kimanis within the next 60 days!

The Dewan Rakyat says it has received a notice from the Election Commission regarding the parliamentary seat's vacancy.

Last week, the Federal Court upheld the Election Court's ruling, nullifying Datuk Seri Anifah Aman’s victory in Kimanis, due to discrepancies in the election process.
