Govt to consider RM1,800 minimum wage for civil servants

The government will consider a proposal from Cuepacs to raise the minimum wage for civil servants to RM1,800. 

The HR Ministry says its prepared to look into any request as long as it is reasonable. 

However, it says any decision will have to take many factors into account...including if the government can afford the higher wages.

Water cuts ongoing

Work to clean up the pollution that led to the closure of the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant is still ongoing...more than 24 hours after the shutdown.

Air Selangor says operations at the plant can only resume when pollution levels are down to zero.

The shutdown led to water cuts for parts of KL, Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang.

Emergency supplies have already been sent to one-stop service centers in the affected areas. You can get the exact locations on Air Selangor's Facebook page.

The shutdown is also the second such incident to hit in three months, and also comes as residents prepare for the Christmas holidays.

Flood situation improving

The flood situation nationwide continues to improve...with just over 1,200 evacuees still seeking shelter at relief centers in Johor, Kelantan and Sabah.

Kelantan, in particular, saw significant improvement...with only 320-plus people still remaining at relief centers in the state...down from over a thousand yesterday.
