Taps are expected to flow again soon in the Klang Valley!

Taps are expected to flow again soon, after the Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant resumed operations, following Saturday's shutdown. 

Air Selangor's spokesperson Abdul Halem Mat Som urged consumers to be patient as it will take some time before water supply is stable enough to be distributed.

He adds that the Bukit Tampoi water treatment plant will continue to be closed until further notice.

Both plants were forced to shut down due to odour pollution, caused by toxic waste that contaminated the Semenyih river.

The Health Ministry says the one-year grace period to educate and warn smokers about the nationwide smoking ban at eateries, was a success. 

It noted that only a handful of smokers are reluctant to ahere to the ban.

Full enforcement of the ban will start next year, with those caught smoking in prohibited areas fined up to 10,000 ringgit or jailed for 2 years.

The RFID toll payment system will be implemented along several more toll plazas nationwide, starting January 1st.

This includes a number of poll plazas along the North South Expressway. 

The Works Ministry says the usage of RFID is expected to improve traffic flow at toll plazas,  as drivers won't have to stop their vehicles to flash their Touch n Go cards on the reader. 

The RFID system is one of the first steps to implementing a non-stop toll collection system in Msia, similar to the ERP in Singapore.
