Rina Harun backs move to cut politicians' allowances

The Rural Development Minister is supportive of a proposal to cut the allowances of politicians and ministers, instead of other civil servants.

Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun said, some allowances have already been deducted since last year.

The proposal by the Youth and Sports Minister is aimed at replacing the controversial decision to cut critical allowance for select new civil servants from next year.

Cops accuse MACC officer of assault

An MACC officer has been accused of assaulting three policemen, who were giving their statements on a case. 

The three cops from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division in Sungai Buloh, claim they were punched, slapped and kicked by the same man. 

A police report has been lodged and the case is being investigated.

Foreign incidents

A Malaysian family of five were injured in a car accident in Cairo, Egypt last Saturday. 

Wisma Putra says it will ensure they receive hospital treatment at a reasonable rate and will also help them get flight tickets home.

The Foreign Ministry is also helping to repatriate the body of a Malaysian teenager, who died in Australia in a skateboarding accident on the weekend.
