MOE won't get involved in UniMap's Zakir Naik exam question issue

The Education Ministry will not interfere in the latest controversy about preacher Dr Zakir Naik.

Universiti Malaysia Perlis is under fire for an exam question about the preacher, which has been slammed as racially sensitive.

The Education Ministry says it respects UniMap's right to autonomy with accountability.

However, Deputy Women Minister Hannah Yeoh has called for a probe, to ensure public institutions are not used to breed intolenrance.

UniMap itself is investigating the issue and will review its vetting system for exam questions, to ensure lecturers are more racially and religiously sensitive.
