Flight passengers screened following pneumonia outbreak in China

Health authorities have started screening passengers at international checkpoints, following an outbreak of pneumonia in China.

The Health Ministry says it stepped up surveillance against influenza-like illnesses and severe acute respiratory infections to prevent an outbreak in Malaysia.

It has also stepped up screening activities at government clinics and hospital emergency departments, to make sure that suspected cases are handled according to preventive and infection control procedures.

This is after 60 cases of pneumonia were identified in Wuhan, China, including seven who are in serious condition.

Authorities there are still trying to confirm the cause of the outbreak, but for now, they've ruled out bid flu, SARS and the MERS coronavirus.

Two M'sian students injured in South Africa robbery discharged

Two Malaysian students who were injured in a robbery in South Africa have been discharged from hospital.

Wisma Putra says the other two are still receiving medical treatment. 

The four Malaysian students were robbed in the city of Durban on Friday, with one being shot in the leg and the others were stabbed.
