Najib's lawyer considering suing MACC over released phone recordings

Jan 09, 2020

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's lawyer says he's considering suing the MACC, and its chief commissioner Latheefa Koya.

This is after the anti-graft commission revealed phone call recordings that suggested a high-level conspiracy, involving the former Prime Minister and several other individuals.

Najib’s lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah says he's looking at initiating subjudice and contempt proceedings, claiming the recordings involved ongoing court cases.

Meanwhile, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who was also implicated in the recordings, said that she will let her lawyers handle it.

"No further action" on Nora Anne case

The Attorney-General’s Chambers has classified the death of Irish girl Nora Anne Quoirin, near a resort in Seremban last year, as "no further action".

Bukit Aman says this is based on an earlier report, which had classified the case as sudden death.

Meanwhile, on the negligence suit filed by the teenager's family against the resort, CID chief Datuk Huzir Mohamed said they are within their rights to do so.

15-year-old Nora Anne was reported missing after her family checked into the resort, and was found dead in a nearby jungle 10 days later.
