18% toll rate reduction happening February 1st

PLUS Highway toll rates will be reduced by 18%, starting February 1st

The highways include the North South Highway, the NKVE, the ELITE, the Second Link, and the East Coast Highway 2

Meanwhile it has also been agreed that no new toll rate hikes will be introduced, for the next 38 years

An estimated RM40,000,000,000 will be saved, now that the government no longer needs to pay compensation to PLUS. 

e-Tunai Rakyat initiative off to a great start

In less than 48 hours, the RM30 e-Tunai Rakyat initiative is off to a great start!

Finance Minister, Lim Guan Eng says as of 10:00pm yesterday, RM18,800,000 was spent, as over 670,000 applications, out of 780,000 people have been approved.
 
But some Malaysians aren't comfortable with revealing their personal information, as per the initiative's terms and conditions.

However, Guan Eng says this concern is irrelevant, as the government already has access to this info via the National Registration Department. 

Lemongrass straws encouraged in public hospitals

The Health Ministy is not making it compulsory for canteen and cafe operators at public hospitals, to use lemongrass straws, but is encouraging it.

The Deputy Health Minister says the operators will have the final say in whether or not they'll use the new straw alternative.
