Malaysia's coronavirus cases rises to eight

The Health Ministry has confirmed one new coronavirus case, bringing the country's total to eight

Health officials say the latest victim is a Chinese national who contracted the virus after being in close contact with patient no. seven.

There are no confirmed cases among locals. 

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has assured that there are tight health and immigration controls at our entry points. 

It says for instance, authorities at KLIA recently turned away 14 Chinese national who had arrived from Wuhan. 

Government to increase face mask supplies

The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry has assured it will take action against traders who hike the prices of face masks and hand sanitiser products. 

Its minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution also says the ministry is also in talks with face mask suppliers to increase supplies in the domestic market...

The minister said, "Itu saya bagi jaminan segera, saya mintak penguatkuasa segera mengadakan pertemuan dengan pihak pegeluar, dan pihak pengeluar akui mereka tidak beroperasi sepanjang tempoh cuti dan mereka akan kembali beroperasi seperti biasa dan memastikan bekalan mencukupi".

Talian Kasih launches new Whatsapp Service

The Talian Kasih 15999 hotline has received over 25,000 calls last year, a 70 per cent increase compared to 2018. 

The hotline was introduced by the Women, Family and Community Development ministry for the public to make complaints on abuse, baby dumping as well as enquiries on counselling.

This, as the ministry launched a new Talian Kasih WhatsApp Service to allow more people, especially those with speech or hearing impairments to lodge complaints.
