409 sites to be quarantine zones

Mar 22, 2020

409 sites nationwide have been gazetted as quarantine zones, to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The Health minister says they include public universities, former National Service camps, and hotels.

This as Malaysia reported 8 COVID-19 fatalities, with more than 1,180 infection cases.

Business hours being reduced nationwide

Several state govts have started limiting operation hours for businesses and retailers, in compliance with Movement Control Order guidelines.

Melaka’s state govt says petrol stations and grocery stores will operate from 6am to 8pm.

All 24-hour convenience stores in Selangor will be closed at midnight to 6am.

While Penang has ordered the closures of all hawker stalls at markets including those at Air Itam, Perak Road, and Jelutong.

Healthcare workers to report to police if COVID-19 info withheld

Healthcare workers can report patients to the police, if they withhold info about their exposure to COVID-19.

The Health Director General says failing to disclose such info can put frontline health workers at risk.

This, as a man in Melaka with pneumonia only told hospital staff that he was in contact with a COVID-19 patient, after he received treatment.

The man has since tested positive for the coronavirus.
